ROD STEWART IN CONCERT - BARCELONA 08 Jul 2005

MIJAS COSTA JULY 13 2005
Also Elton John Bryan Adams
Lenny Krawitz

Rod Stewart is best known for his 70’s dance hit ‘Do You Think I’m Sexy’, which almost three decades later just won’t go away (a Christmas office party favourite!). In addition to this he enjoyed huge commercial success with ‘Maggie May’, ‘Reason To Believe’, ‘Tonight’s The Night’ and more recently ‘Downtown Train’ and his version of ‘Have I Told You Lately’. What not so many people realise is that behind the jet set lifestyle and a number of high profile relationships with various models (Britt Eckland, Penny Lancaster and Rachel Hunter to name but a few) there hides the soul of a talented and accomplished songwriter and an original interpretative singer.

Rod, whose music incorporates a combination of folk, rock, blues and country and even disco, started out his career as an apprentice for Brentford Football Club touring around Europe. Throughout a musical career which spans more than 30 years he has performed in a number of groups including Jimmy Powell & The Five Dimensions, The Hoochie Coochie Men, Shotgun Express, The Jeff Beck Group and The Small Faces before gaining notoriety as a solo performer. It was whilst performing with the Jeff Beck Group that Rod shot to stardom, simultaneously recording and performing with them and developing his career as a solo artist. His first solo album ‘An Old Raincoat Won’t Let You Down’ was released in 1969 and he followed the success with ‘Every Picture Tells A Story’ in 1971 hitting the number one spot in both Britain and the US.

Rod will be touring in the spring and summer to promote his most recent CD ‘The Great American Songbook Volume III’ in which he turns his hand to performing his own unique interpretation a number of classics including ‘Some Kind of Wonderful’ and ‘Blue Moon’.
